Examinations
Examinations are provided by a combination of the doctor and the paraoptometric assistants.
The examination will vary from patient to patient depending on the health of the individual and their visual needs. Typically, it may include;
Medical History
Measurement of visual acuity
Pupil dilation (to evaluate the back part of the eyes)
Intraocular pressure (Glaucoma)
Visual field test
Analysis
Diagnosis
Prescription (lenses or medicine)
Education and Discussion of Exam Findings
Treatment of Eye Disease
Dr. Blackburn diagnoses and treats eye diseases including "pink eye"/conjunctivitis, foreign body removal, glaucoma, and eye lid infections.
Dr. Blackburn also provides pre- and post-operative cataract evaluation and care. Major medical insurance usually covers these services.
Contact Lenses
We prescribe and evaluate all major brands of soft and rigid contact lenses. Additionally, we prescribe custom designed contact lenses for special needs as well as special eye problems. Specialized fitting may include: Monovision, bifocal contact lenses, astigmatism contacts, and Ortho K. Our staff are able to answer many of your questions and are available for ongoing contact lens instruction and training.
Optical Dispensary
Oak Mountain Eye Care, PC offers a collection of over 600 frames including such designer name brands as Guess, Bebe, Coach, NIKE, Vera Wang, Jones New York, Sigrid Olsen, Tommy Bahama and Silhouette, Jhane Barnes, Joseph Aboud and others.
